In a benefit for CASA of Monterey County, the Mexican Consulate will host a Día de la Madre evening celebration at 6 p.m. Thursday, Mexican Mother's Day, at the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas.
CASA volunteers strive to help children in the care of the state find safe, permanent homes as soon as possible.
The event will feature a rebozo (traditional shawl) fashion show, mariachi with René Infante and a meal prepared by chef Todd Fisher of Hullaballoo restaurant in Salinas.
Tickets are $40.
