Gary Ibsen, founder of the NatureSweet Carmel TomatoFest, has announced the 2007 TomatoFest "Hall of Fame" award winners, for persons who have consistently demonstrated excellence in their field and have contributed to bio-diversity and sustainability of heirloom tomatoes and other foods.
Locally The Culinary Awards go to:
Beat Giger, CEC, AAC director of special events/corporate chef, Pebble Beach Resorts, Pebble Beach
Craig von Foerster, executive chef, Sierra Mar at Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur;
Jeff Rogers, executive chef, Quail Lodge Resort & Golf Club, Carmel;
Luis Solano, executive chef, The Whole Enchilada, Moss Landing;
Ted Walter, executive chef/co-owner, Passionfish, Pacific Grove;
Rick Edge, executive chef, Culinary Center of Monterey, Monterey. .
• The Educator of the Year Award goes to Laurie Fannin, garden coordinator/ instructor, Carmel River School Children's Garden & Life Lab, Carmel.
• The Farming Award: Myra and Drew Goodman, co-founders, Earthbound Farm, Carmel.
