Atlas Peak AVA
A sub-region located within the napa valley ava but east of Napa Valley proper. Approved in 1992 this AVA takes its name from Atlas Peak, the highest point in the Vaca Mountain range at 2,700 feet. It encompasses most of the Foss Valley and consists of approximately 11,400 acres, although only a small percentage is planted. Atlas Peak Vineyards, owned by Marchese Piero Antinori is the primary winery in the area. High-end producer, Pahlmeyer, also has several hundred acres planted in this region.
